Statement by H.E. Ambassador Gholamali Khoshroo On “the Middle East: Syria - Humanitarian” Before the United Nations Security Council
Madam President, The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the agreement between Russia and Turkey to create a demilitarized buffer zone in Idlib province of Syria. The Sochi agreement is the result of intensive responsible diplomacy over the last few weeks in Ankara and Damascus, followed by the Iran-Russia-Turkey Summit in Tehran. The agreement is based on the Astana Process principled approach and spirit in creating de-escalation zones in order to reduce the possibility of civilian casualties while fighting against terrorists.

Statement by H. E. Ambassador Eshagh Al Habib On “The situation in the Middle East
Mr. President, I thank you for convening this open debate and also align myself with the NAM statement to be delivered by Venezuela. The occupation of Palestine has been the main root cause of the conflicts in the Middle East. With that in mind, Israel must be compelled to end the occupation; to stop its expansionist strategies; and to put an end to all its aggressive policies and criminal practices.

Statement by Dr. Khoshroo On children and armed conflict: protecting children today prevents conflicts tomorrow
Statement by H.E. Ambassador Gholamali Khoshroo Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations On children and armed conflict: protecting children today prevents conflicts tomorrow Before the United Nations Security Council New York, 9 July 2018 In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful Mr. President, I would like to begin by thanking the Council President, Swedish Prime Minister, for organizing this open debate. I also thank the Secretary-General for his report, and appreciate the valuable inputs from the briefers. A large increase in violations against children in 2017, as reported by the UNSG, is alarming. This underlines the necessity of redoubling our efforts to prevent the emergence of new conflicts. It indeed is the most effective way to protect children from the scourge of armed conflicts.
