Iran rejects Saudi state owned outlets false characterization of former Iranian MP's statements concerning the September 11th terrorist attacks

Saudi state media outlet al-Arabiya manipulated the translation of a video to claim that a former Iranian Member of Parliament admitted to Iran having a role in the September 11th terrorist attacks. Unfortunately, some U.S. media subsequently picked up on the al-Arabiya broadcast and without questioning or investigating its veracity, repeated that claim as fact.

In the video, the former MP is called upon to explain a baseless lawsuit filed against Iran in U.S. courts. In doing so, he explains claims mentioned in the 9/11 Commission Report and unequivocally rejects them, noting that the Commission was correct when it assessed that al-Qaeda is a great enemy of Iran. We already addressed this issue on the 9th of June here:

To reiterate: Iran had no involvement in the terrorist attacks of September 11th and was the first Muslim country to immediately condemn them after they occurred. Iran has been fighting Takfiri hardline groups like al-Qaeda both before and after those attacks. Saudi tyrants and their propagandists should spend more time thinking about the central role their government, their citizens and extremist Takfiri ideology have played in the creation of every single terrorist group in the region, including al-Qaeda, the Taliban and ISIS, and spend less time manufacturing self-serving fictions.
